Why
Choose Us

We do far more than arrange insurance. We are a specialist partner to the games industry, supporting innumerable developers, publishers and related businesses worldwide, with a growing presence across the UK, USA and Europe.

Our role is often behind the scenes, but the impact is real. We help studios understand and manage risk, unlock publisher deals, satisfy funding and investment requirements, and give commercial partners the confidence they need to move projects forward. In many cases, insurance is not just a box-ticking exercise. It can be the thing that helps a deal complete, a publisher agreement move ahead, or a studio demonstrate that it is professionally run and ready for the next stage.

We also work hard to add value beyond insurance. Through our network, we regularly make introductions between developers, publishers, lawyers, investors, service providers and other industry contacts. We refer opportunities, connect people, support events, and try to be a positive force in the wider games ecosystem. We care deeply about the industry and take pride in helping studios to grow, protect themselves and bring their games to life.

Most importantly, when our clients really need us, the cover works. Insurance is one of those things every studio hopes it will never have to rely on, but when serious claims arise, having a genuine industry specialist matters. Recent claims handled through our insurer partners have reached into the millions, giving clients critical financial protection at moments when they needed it most. That is when the value of specialist advice, games industry-specific wordings and experienced insurer relationships becomes clear.

We are proud of the trust placed in us by developers and publishers around the world. We love what we do, we understand the pressures studios face, and we are passionate about helping the games industry thrive. That combination of technical expertise, global reach, genuine commitment is what makes us stand out from the crowd.

What Risks Do
Gaming & Digital Companies Face?

This is the million dollar question, and why GG Insurance Services was founded. Some of these may seem obvious, however in terms of actual insurance claims paid and litigation the underlying results are quite surprising.

Contract Disputes

Agreements with publishers, developers, licensors, and other parties are integral to the success of video game companies. Contract disputes can arise due to issues such as revenue sharing, intellectual property rights, or breach of contract. Insurance coverage is there not just to pay end settlements, but also mitigate the financial impact of legal battles and support resolution while a dispute is ongoing.

Video game companies invest substantial resources in developing unique concepts, characters, and storylines. Publishers will fiercly protect their own IP, and unfortunatley you may find yourself defending an accusation of infringement. Intellectual property insurance helps protect against claims of infringement, ensuring that their creations remain safeguarded, and covers things such as copyright, trademark, patents and trade secrets.

As digital products, video games (and the developers and publishers that release said games) are vulnerable to cyber attacks, data breaches, and theft of sensitive information. Cyber insurance helps mitigate financial losses, supports incident response, and aids in rebuilding a company’s reputation in the event of a cyber incident. This can cover both your direct losses, but also cyber liability to a 3rd party who’s project you may be working on.

Game

Case Study

A publisher approached us, as they were keen to publish a particular game. However they were concerned with potential similarities to a well known Disney owned IP.

They asked whether we could arrange for insurance for the developer, to protect them in the event that Disney sued for copyright infringement.

We worked with the developer and analysed the risks, in particular the Copyright Term Extension Act, 1998, and presented an objective case to our insurers – highlighting (not hiding) the risks.
Based on our submission, insurers were happy that the risk was acceptable and came up with a fair price and offered a policy to protect the developer in the event Disney sued on copyright grounds.
This then gave the publisher sufficient confidence to proceed with the publishing deal.

Still not sure?

“I have been working in insurance for almost 20 years, and when I started GG Insurance Services in 2018, I thought it would be a cool side project and a good excuse to make some friends in the games industry, (and hopefully get a couple of free steam codes!).

Fast forward to today, and we help hundreds of clients around the world from tiny developer startups to AAA publishers that have offices and subsidiaries all over the world. I believe our success has come from one core principle;

We genuinely care about the video game industry.

We can deliver on insurance, and work with clients all over the world, and have access to the best insurers in the industry. But if we simply ‘pretended’ to care underneath all that, it wouldn’t mean much.

GG Insurance Services has changed my life. I’ll always be a huge gamer nerd at heart – and if there is anything the GG team or I personally can do to help someone in the industry, we’ll make sure we pull out all the stops to do it.”

Frequently
Asked Questions

If there is anything else you’d like to know, don’t hesitate to reach out!

How much does it cost to work with GG Insurance Services?

We earn a commission from insurers when we sell a policy. Working through a broker does not make your policies more expensive…in fact due to our relationships with our insurers we are generally able to get better deals than you would have by going direct.

We do not charge additional fees for arranging or making changes to your policies mid-term. It’s all part of the service.

If there are ever  additional fees and taxes to pay, we will be very transarent about what they are, and what they are for.

Yes, we are here to support you throughout the year (even if you don’t buy a policy, we still love to help)! We do this because we genuinely care about the industry, and if we can leverage our industry connections to help you in other ways beyond simply servicing your insurance needs (for example introductions to other industry contacts) we are always happy to do so.

As part of the G&M Group, we can work with clients in many countries either directly, or through our network.

We currently work with clients in UK, USA, Canada, Europe, South Africa, Australia, UAE, Qatar, and soon to include Saudi Arabia.

Other countries will depend on local licences whether we can work directly, or via our wider broker network – but wherever you are in the world, we are always happy to chat and see if we can find a way to support you, and if we can’t help – we probably know someone who can!

While we don’t publicly share client names, we proudly support hundreds of publishers and developers globally each year, and would love for you to be next.

Our clients range from fast-growing startups to major industry leaders, including companies with annual revenues exceeding USD 2.5 billion.

Further to that, our parent company (G&M) operates internationally, managing millions in insurance premiums every month through our global offices.

This depends on the type of policy you have, but most will allow you to cancel mid term. And we would calculate a pro-rata refund depending on how long your policy was active.

We don’t charge cancellation fees or penalties. While it is always sad to lose a client, we are happy to continue to provide advice and support to those that leave, and hope to welcome them back at some point in the future.

We will certainly try!

It depends on the circumstances and what you have done to mitigate future issues.

A big part of our job is to negotiate on your behalf with insurers to obtain the best possible outcomes, taking into account all factors (including known issues and circumstances), and keeping you informed about the process and highlighting any potential exclusions (if applicable) so you understand what your insurance will and will not cover.
